Continuing our pioneering tradition

At the end of March, we released our results for 2015, which highlighted our commitment to growing in Africa as well as our diversification into renewable energy and business development.

In this edition you’ll find news about plans to promote Oikocredit in Canada, the results press release, an interview with our newly established business development team, news about one of our capacity building programmes and two new partners in renewable energy.

Oikocredit's volunteer networks collaborate to promote mission across Canada

Oikocredit Canada-West (OCW) has been in discussions with its sister association, Oikocredit Canada-Central, to create a larger national support association stretching from British Columbia to Quebec. A steering committee with representatives from each support association, the National Support Office and the Oikocredit International Office has been struck to develop a unification plan.

The plan will be discussed at OCW's annual meeting April 17. Ging Ledesma, Oikocredit's director of investor relations and social performance, will be on hand to speak about the future of development finance.

Investing in Honduran solar power

Oikocredit's renewable energy team started 2016 strongly with an $ 11 million investment in a solar energy power plant which will provide clean energy to more than 71,000 homes in Honduras.

At a press conference in Frankfurt, Germany, we recently announced our 2015 results. We passed a historic milestone of € 1 billion in total assets and grew our Africa portfolio by 52%.
