Brookfield raises $15 bn for climate-focused fund

Canada's Brookfield Asset Management has raised $15 billion for its first impact fund focused on the global transition to a net-zero carbon economy. 

The fund comes at a time when investors and lawmakers across the globe have been questioning businesses about their environmental and social impact amid calls for companies to lower their greenhouse gas emissions.

Oikocredit strengthens leadership with new Executive Team

Oikocredit has enhanced its leadership with the creation of a new Executive Team. 

The team comprises four statutory and five non-statutory members and replaced Oikocredit’s Managing Board on 1 July 2022. The team has been created from existing Managing Board members and new directors appointed from within the organisation.

Oikocredit supports new coffee platform

Oikocredit is among the first impact lenders active on Beyco, a coffee trading platform based on blockchain technology launched by non-profit organisation Progreso Foundation in 2018. 

Beyco connects markets and finance with producer organisations and it supports traders and roasters to provide traceable coffees to their clients.

Despite people’s ability to adapt, the pandemic has affected the poor more than the rich, causing an increase in global poverty. This makes our work more relevant than ever.  And there are other issues like the impact of climate change that endanger people at the bottom of the pyramid.

There is a profound need for resiliency among low-income communities and we’ve realised that if we want to further help improve the quality of life of low-income people and communities in a sustainable way, there is more work to be done by us and our partners.
