Ifeoluwa (Ife) Kolade graduated from McGill University in 2016 where she received her degree in the Honours International Development Studies program and minored in Economics. She has been an active member of her school and community at all stages of her education. She volunteered for four years during high school with Growing Up Healthy Downtown (GUHD), an initiative that provides childcare and parenting programs for low income, recent immigrants living in the Toronto downtown core. She was awarded the organizations Youth Volunteer Award in 2010 for her service.
During her time at McGill University, her passion for human rights and gender equality led her to work on several student organizations. She has served as Co-President of McGill Women in Leadership Students’ Association. She carried out the mandate of the club to provide female students at the university with the tools to excel in their chosen professions. She also served on the executive team for McGill Students’ Chapter of War Child, helping to raise money for and awareness about the impacts of war on women and children.
In addition, Ife interned for a Geneva based NGO in Summer 2015. Her internship provided her with the opportunity to witness human rights advocacy and the United Nations Human Rights Council on a first-hand basis. Through her participation with the Girls on Boards program, Ife volunteers with Oikocredit Canada where she had had the tremendous opportunity to combine her educational background with her interests.
