Hear how Oikocredit is making a difference around the world

Oikocredit representatives will be speaking to development finance conferences in Toronto and Calgary on Oct. 4.

The events are part of Oikocredit's commitment to educating Canadians on how investment can promote microfinance, social enterprise and global development. Oikocredit is proud to sponsor both events.

Richard Librock, who serves as the Vice President of Oikocredit's international board of directors, will be speaking on supporting microfinance and poverty reduction. He will be at the Toronto International Microfinance Summit. Richard will be on a panel with Jessie Greene, senior investment advisor with Développement International Desjardins and Thomas Haubenreisser, Vice President and Director of Solar Share.

On the same day, Eugene Ellmen, National Director for Oikocredit Canada, will talk about how social enterprise is extending the impact of microfinance in the developing world. He will be speaking to the Soul of the Next Economy Forum in Calgary.

"Oikocredit believes it is important to raise awareness about global development, microfinance and social enterprise," said National Director Eugene Ellmen.

"We are one of the largest private investors in microfinance in the world, and we are making inroads in areas such as agriculture, fair trade, co-ops and renewable energy. So we want to help make Canadians better informed on the tools that can improve the lives of people in the developing world."
